EXPERIENCES THAT WILL Start the conversation

The handmaid’s tale

When Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series, we knew we had to create an extra special piece to promote the series and bring this exciting news to the public.

So, we partnered with iconic LA based artist Jonas Never to create a standout portrait piece mural for the Venice Boardwalk. By combining Never’s artistry with Melrose Media’s knack for media placement, this partnership perfectly exhibited how art and media can come together to showcase the best of both worlds.

LA LA LAND CITY

After “La La Land” was nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards, we created a hand-painted mural at the iconic Carrera Café on Melrose Ave to generate buzz for the film during awards season.

The artistry of the mural created a captivating, Instagram-ready backdrop for fans of the film. And by placing it at the Carrera Café, which is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike, we were able to amplify the promotion across media platforms and cement the movie’s status in pop culture for years to come.

Lisa Frankenstein

To promote the comedy-horror film Lisa Frankenstein, written by Diablo Cody and directed by Zelda Williams, we created a bold, hand-painted mural at Carrera Café.

To capture the attention of onlookers, our mural is straight out of 1989, and features the film’s protagonist, a misunderstood teen goth named Lisa, and the man of her dreams – a young Victorian man who died all the way back in 1837.

Can Lisa help put him, and her heart, back together?

TRULY SURF RV

Want adventure in a can? Just crack open a Truly! When we partnered with Truly Hard Seltzer, we asked ourselves, “How can we engage the Orange County beach community in a meaningful way?”

Through surf culture, dude!

So, we hand painted a vintage Winnebago Brave Surf RV, packed it full of Truly, and called on local DJ’s to bring the Truly vibe to the OC.

Not only was the live painting of the RV a spectacle that drew attention from onlookers, but we got the whole community involved with a local beach cleanup where we gave away custom painted surfboards to participants.

THE QUEENS GAMBIT

To promote Netflix’s drama miniseries, “The Queen’s Gambit”, we sought to immerse customers at Carrera Café in the world of chess and the show using a cohesive theme throughout the space.

We accomplished this with a 3D chess board mural that extended out from the wall onto the sidewalk below, and by turning the tables at the café into actual chess boards. This collaboration not only allowed customers to feel like they were a part of the show, but provided them with an opportunity to share their experience on social media too.

By blending art, entertainment, and an interactive experience, we helped catapult “The Queen’s Gambit” into the stratosphere, ultimately becoming Netflix’s most watched show in the U.S. that year.

NISSAN

To promote the Nissan Pathfinder, we created a 3D living mural that incorporated solar power, aimed at highlighting the vehicle's rugged capabilities and commitment to sustainability.

During the day, our mural brought the adventurous nature of the Pathfinder to life. At night, solar power allowed us to illuminate the Nissan logo and vehicle’s headlights, thus emphasizing the Pathfinder's eco-friendly qualities.

Our treatment served as a powerful visual metaphor. In the same way that solar power harnesses the energy of the sun, the Nissan Pathfinder harnesses the elements of nature to thrive in any terrain. With our 3D living mural, we were able to engage viewers both day and night, and ultimately reinforce Nissan's position as a leader in sustainable transportation.

Netflix Stunt for the action thriller “Kate”

You're walking down Melrose Blvd and you see that car crushed into your favorite coffee shop...and you go “WTF?!!!” That is exactly the reaction we were looking for…

To generate excitement and intrigue for Netflix’s action-packed thriller, Kate, we staged a stunt outside Carrera Café, creating the illusion that Kate had just crashed her hot pink car into the café.

Our activation grabbed customers’ and tourists’ attention by giving them a taste of Kate’s high-stakes, adrenaline fueled action. Just like Netflix’s ruthless female assassin, our stunt successfully infused action, humor, and visuals into one heart-stopping scene on Melrose Boulevard.

Chanel Bleu

To bring awareness to the timeless and unexpected men’s fragrance, Bleu de Chanel, we created a gorgeous UV glow campaign on Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice, CA.

This mural not only showcased the brand’s elegance and creativity, but also highlighted the unique character of the community and its surroundings, resulting in a visually stunning backdrop making it impossible not to take a selfie…

Spotify

How can data be transformed into an immersive and captivating visual experience? Look no further than Spotify Wrapped.

In 2022, we brought stunning day-to-night murals in Los Angeles to life, which highlighted the city’s top Spotify songs, artists, genres.

During the day, attendees were drawn into our murals via shadow casting, which is when objects are strategically placed to create visually compelling shadows when sunlight shines through or reflects off them.

At night, our murals were spotlit with ultraviolet lights, causing the artwork to glow in the dark and added a vibrant, spellbinding effect to the pieces.

The result?

Our initiative amplified Spotify’s data in the real world, plus these multi-dimensional murals encouraged attendees to engage with their environment and post their own unique results to social, turning Spotify Wrapped into a can’t-be-missed spectacle across media platforms.

PORSCHE

You're walking down Melrose Blvd and you see that car crushed into your favorite coffee shop...and you go “WTF?!!!” That is exactly the reaction we were looking for…

OMG Harry Styles is on tour?

Drop everything!!!

To promote Harry Styles’ second solo concert tour, Love on Tour, we partnered with Live Nation to bring the Harry Styles experience to life.

At Carrera Café on Melrose Ave, we created a full scale, Instagram-worthy Love on Tour mural, along with branded coffee sleeves and latte art. Fans and influencers alike lined up around the block to snap photos with our pieces, then posted them to their personal and Harry Styles Fan Club social pages.

In the end, this heartthrob’s tour was enormously successful, grossing $95 million in the US alone. Not bad, right?

Paramount Grease

To promote the premiere of Rise of the Pink Ladies on Paramount+, we wanted audiences to think pink…ladies! So, we partnered with Carrera Café on Melrose Ave, across from the iconic Paul Smith Pink Wall, to create a blushingly beautiful mural that featured exciting 3D elements from the series.

Customers and tourists were hopelessly devoted to posting selfies with our mural on social media, alongside Carrera Café’s whimsically decorated pink latte drinks. Who wants one?
